Procedure for Replacing the Turbine Inlet Bellows on Certain C175 Engines {1061}

Introduction

The following Special Instruction is used to replace the turbine inlet bellows on C175 Engines.

Do not perform any procedures listed in this Special Instruction until you have read and understood the information.

Removal and Installation Procedure

    (1) Existing V band clamps

  1. Remove V band clamps (1) from the current turbine inlet bellows and discard the clamps.

  2. Install the 421-4080 Tool As and compress bellows assembly (2).

  3. Removed the existing bellows assembly.

  4. Install the 452-6804 Tool As onto the new 443-5940 Bellows As. Refer to Illustration 3 for the correct installation of the tool assembly.

  5. Compress the new bellows enough to allow for installation between the exhaust manifold and turbocharger.

    Note: Ensure that the flow arrow on the bellows is pointing in the correct direction of exhaust flow.

  6. Release and remove the compression tool after bellows is in place.

  7. Install new 446-1290 V Band Clamps onto the turbine inlet bellows.

  8. Ensure that the new bellows ring is fully seated under the clamp prior to tightening the V band clamp. Refer to Illustration 4.

    Note: If the ring is not fully seated, remove the clamp and seat the ring again.

  9. Tighten the clamp assemblies to 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in). Lightly tap around the clamp and retighten to 17 ± 2 N·m (150 ± 17 lb in).
