Engine Oil Pump - Remove and Install

Usage:

3512 H4R

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the fuel transfer pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Transfer Pump - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  3. Remove bolts (1) and disconnect outlet elbow (2).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and disconnect inlet elbow (4).

  5. Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil pump (5). The weight of engine oil pump (2) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  6. Remove three bolts (6) and engine oil pump (5).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil pump (2) in the reverse order of removal.
