Engine News SEBD9878, 26 June 2013, "New Jacket Water Heating Element Used in Certain C9 Generator Set Engines". Disregard the previous article listed above for this issue. The following article has been updated to add effectivity.

Description of Change: The new jacket water heating element cold pin is lengthened and reshaped. This change allows for lower operating temperatures for the o-ring that seals the coolant from the electrical element.

Illustration 2 shows the difference between the new coolant heater (1) and the previous coolant heater (2). The 258-6844 Coolant Heater part has not changed. The part is identified by the "S" after the date code on the part label. Table 1 contains the effective serial numbers.
