The board for the user interface printed wire assembly provides the interface to the touch screen. The board contains a buzzer that is used as the alarm for the UPS.
The display sends data to the controller and from the controller regarding the status of the UPS.
The board sends signals about the status of the EPO switch and the key switch back to the system controller.
The user interface board communicates with the APC by using the following forms of communication:
- Two half duplex differential serial links
- Two status lines
The user interface (1) is located on the left system cabinet door. Refer to Illustration 1.

Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, UENR3954, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (MMS System Cabinet)" in order to shut down the system and gain access to internal components.
Note: Verify that each wire and/or connector is correctly labeled before removal. The connectors and wires must be labeled correctly for installation.
- Disconnect all connectors to the user interface board.
- Remove the four mounting screws (15) that connect the board to the touch screen assembly.
- Remove the user interface board.
- Attach the board to the spacers with the four screws (15).
- Connect the wire connectors into the correct connectors on the user interface board. Check the labels on each connector for proper placement.
