The most common industrial applications are in rock crushers and wood chippers. This seal is available for all products that use the 237-1962 Electric Starting Motor Gp, except for wet sump flywheel housings. The seal will stop dust accumulation on the armature spline that could prevent the pinion drive assembly from translating during normal operation.

The new 419-7866 Starter Seal is adaptable back to the first production of the listed engines.

If the starting motor on an above listed engine exhibits symptoms like, click-no-crank, running engaged and a shorted or open circuit, make the following improvement.

Seal Mounting Procedure

  1. Install a 419-7866 Starter Seal (2) over the drive assembly until the seal rests on the ledge inside the shift lever housing. Ensure that the flat surface of the seal, identified by the gold color near the outside diameter, is facing the pinion side of the starter.

  1. Reassemble the nose cone onto the starter and torque the flange bolts to 23 ± 3 N·m (17 ± 2 lb ft).
