Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until the permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The monitor that is used for the D series Excavators has multiple reports of malfunctions. The malfunctions are mostly related to a horizontal line that appears on the screen or a screen is not displayed.

Solution

Improved monitor with new part number stamped on the bottom

A solution was implemented by the supplier to resolve the issue with the horizontal line. The improved monitor can be identified by the part number that is stamped on the bottom of the monitor. The improved 327-7482 Operator Monitor Gp will be stamped on the bottom of the monitor as shown in Illustration 2. The issue with the blank screen could be multiple factors. The following list should be considered as a possible factor.

  • Defective power supply circuit

  • Defective monitor

  • Inadequacy of the monitor setting

The following procedures can be used to troubleshoot the blank screen of the monitor

Procedure for Defective Power Supply Circuit

  1. Check the connector to ensure that there is no loose connection. Refer to Illustration 3. Make sure that the pin of the connector has not come off or is rusted.

  1. Check the voltage, continuity according to Table 1

Table 1
Item     Place     Normal Value     Starter Switch
Continuity Check     CN-1 Machine side terminal 2     GND-Cab (Cab Floor)     0 Ω     OFF
Voltage Check     CN-1 Machine side terminal 1     CN-1 Machine side terminal 2     18-26V     OFF
Voltage Check     CN-1 Machine side terminal 2     CN-1 Machine side terminal 3     18-26V     ON
