Certain commercial engines are equipped with a different fan drive than what is given in the Operation and Maintenance Manual and the System Operation Testing and Adjusting Manual. The fan drive has a larger nut than what is specified in the manual.

Fan Drive Replacement Procedure

(A) 22 mm (0.86 inch) (1) Jam nut

1. Loosen jam nut (1) with a 2 5/8 inch wrench in the counter-clockwise direction.

2. Loosen the adjustment bolt (2) in the counter-clockwise direction.

3. Remove the fan drive belt.

4. Install a new fan drive belt.

5. Turn the adjustment bolt in the clockwise direction until the belt is tensioned properly. Use Tooling (A) in order to check the belt tension. Refer to Table 2 for the belt specifications.

6. Use a suitable tool to tighten the jam nut.

Adjustment Procedure

1. Loosen the jam nut with a 2 5/8 inch wrench in the counter-clockwise direction.

2. Turn the adjustment bolt clockwise until the belt is tensioned properly. Use Tooling (A) in order to check the belt tension. Refer to Table 4 for the belt specifications.
