Unit Upgrade

Usage:

UPSB 220 JFA
The information in this section provides the procedure to perform a field upgrade to change the commercial kVA rating for the UPS.

Safety

Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8274, "General Hazard Information" section for safety-related information.

Personal protection equipment is required for safety:

  • 11 cal arc flash suit

  • 20 cal arc flash hood

  • Electrical safety gloves

  • Safety glasses

Upgrade Procedure

Note: A laptop computer with Soft Tuner software and a null modem cable are required.

The procedure assumes the UPSB220 is currently powered up and running in the normal mode.

  1. The appropriate personnel must put on the required PPE.

  1. Press the gray inverter off button (1) on the UPSB220 control panel to turn off the inverter. The unit will transfer to static bypass .

  1. Close Q3BP.

  1. Open Q5N, QF1, and Q1.

  1. Connect null modem cable to the COSI board. The COSI board is located on the UPS door. The COSI board is also referred to as the Media Contacts 11 board.

  1. Connect the null modem cable to laptop that has the UPS Soft Tuner software installed.

  1. Open the Soft Tuner application.

  1. Select "Connect" after the initial Soft Tuner dialog appears.

  1. Once the computer is connected with the UPS, select "Refresh all".

  1. Select the "Configure" tab on the menu bar. Click "Personalize" from the drop-down menu.

  1. The "PERSONALIZATION" dialog will appear. Select the commercial power rating that is listed in the parameters column.

  1. Enter the desired upgraded kVA value in the commercial power rating field at the bottom of the dialog.

  1. Click off to the side of the commercial power rating field. The text in the field will change to red if the change is successful. The upgraded kVA value will also be displayed in the UPS Tuner column.

  1. Click on the "Send" button.

  1. The "SEND CONDITIONS" dialog will appear. Click "OK" on the "SEND CONDITIONS" dialog.

    Note: All of the configuration instructions that are listed in the dialog must be completed for the procedure.

  1. A dialog will appear that informs the user that the personalization has been sent successfully to the UPS unit. Click "OK".

  1. Provide the factory with the serial number of the UPS unit to receive a new label for the door.
