The spring of the recoil spring assembly is compressed under several tons of force. Do not attempt to compress or release the tension of the spring with the nut on the end of the retaining rod. Damaged threads on the retaining rod or nut can cause the assembly to come apart with force, resulting in injury or death. |
- Attach a suitable lifting device to front idler (1) and recoil spring (2). The weight of front idler (1) and recoil spring (2) is approximately 342 kg (755 lb). Slide front idler (1) and recoil spring (2) out of the track roller frame as one unit.
- Leave the suitable lifting device attached and turn front idler (1) and recoil spring (2) around 180 degrees. Install front idler (1) partially into the track frame. The front idler (1) and recoil spring (2) will be supported by the track frame.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to recoil spring (2). The weight of recoil spring (2) is approximately 172 kg (380 lb). Remove bolts (3) and recoil spring (2) .
