Introduction
There have been isolated instances of issues with 277-6162 Tube that is installed on certain C6.6 engines. A new 311-1721 Tube has replaced 277-6162 Tube . The new 311-1721 Tube must be installed with an improved low pressure fuel system.

Removal Procedure
NOTICE |
---|
Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training. Before beginning ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines for safety information. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, Cleanliness of Fuel System Components for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system. |
- If necessary, remove the protective cover (1) .

- Install two new setscrews (5) to new secondary fuel filter assembly (1) .
Note: The new secondary fuel filter base will have a identification mark on the top of the secondary fuel filter base (4). The identification mark is a hole that has a depth of 3 mm (0.1181 inch).

Typical example |
- Install new secondary fuel filter assembly (1) to the bracket for the protective cover (2). Install new bracket assembly (3) to new secondary fuel filter assembly (1). Install the two new setscrews (5) and nuts to the mounting bracket (6). Tighten setscrews (5) to a torque of 55 N·m (41 lb ft).
- Install tube assembly (7) .

Typical example |
- Install the leakoff pipe (8) to the connector of the pressure relief valve.
- Install the nut to the leakoff pipe for the injector. Install the olive for the leakoff pipe. Push the leakoff pipe into the connection. Tighten the nut finger tight.
- Ensure that the connection does not move. By using a suitable tool, tighten the nut to a torque of 26 N·m (19 lb ft) for a steel connection or 21 N·m (15 lb ft) for a brass connection.
- Press tube assembly (7) into the correct clip.
- Install tube assembly (9) to the inlet connection of the fuel injection pump and the outlet connection of the secondary fuel filter base. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 26 N·m (19 lb ft) for a steel connection or 21 N·m (15 lb ft) for a brass connection.
Note: If a compression fitting has been assembled to a connection, tighten the nut until a sharp rise in torque is felt.

Typical example |
- Install tube assembly (10) .
- Install tube assembly (11). Install one end of tube assembly (11) to the ECM connection and install the other end of tube assembly (11) to the inlet connection of the secondary fuel filter base. Install two clips. Clip tube assembly (11) onto the bracket.
- Install the primary fuel filter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Priming Pump - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
- If necessary, install a new protective cover (12) .
