Vibration Damper and Pulley - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove belt guard (1).

  2. Remove V-belt (2) from pulley (4). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Alternator Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

  3. Remove nuts (5) and pulley (4).

  4. Slide vibration damper (3) along studs (6). Attach a suitable lifting device to vibration damper (3). The weight of vibration damper (3) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Remove vibration damper (3) from studs (6).

  5. Remove studs (6), if necessary.

  6. Attach a suitable lifting device to damper adapter (8), if necessary. The weight of damper adapter (8) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb). Remove bolts (7) and damper adapter (8).

NOTICE

Thoroughly inspect the viscous damper for signs of leakage or for signs of a dented (damaged) case. Either of these conditions can cause the weight to make contact with the case. This can affect the viscous damper's operation.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to damper adapter (8), if necessary. The weight of damper adapter (8) is approximately 23 kg (50 lb).

  2. Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (7). Install damper adapter (8) and bolts (7).

  3. Install studs (6), if necessary. Tighten studs (6) to a torque of 65 ± 10 N·m (48 ± 7 lb ft).

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device to vibration damper (3). The weight of vibration damper (3) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Install vibration damper (3) on studs (6).

  5. Install pulley (4) and nuts (5). Tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft).

  6. Install V-belt (2) on pulley (4). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Alternator Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

  7. Install belt guard (1).
