Control System - Remove and Install - E.M.C.P Panel

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.

  2. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  3. Disconnect wiring harness (4) and wiring harness (5) from the panel (1).

  4. Disconnect wiring harness (6) and wiring harness (7) from the panel (1).

  5. Remove bolts (3) from panel (1) and remove the panel from support brackets (2) and support brackets (8).

    Note: The panel should be supported as the bolts are removed.

  6. If necessary, follow step 6.a through step 6.g in order to remove brackets (15) from base frame (20).

    1. Remove bolts and remove the cover from bracket (15) that covers the wiring harness assemblies.

    2. Disconnect cable assemblies (9) from the switch.

    3. Disconnect harness assembly (10), harness assembly (11) and harness assembly (12).

    4. Disconnect harness assembly (13) (not shown).

    5. Loosen allen head bolt (16) and disconnect harness assembly (14) from the electronic control module.

    6. Loosen allen head bolt (17) and disconnect harness assembly (18) from the electronic control module.

    7. Remove nuts and bolts (19) and remove bracket assembly (15).

  7. If necessary, follow step 7.a through step 7.c in order to remove support brackets (2) and support brackets (8) from base frame (20).

    Note: The support brackets should be supported as the nut and bolts are removed.

    1. Remove the nut and bolt (21). Remove spacer (23) from support bracket (2). Remove support bracket (2) from base frame (20).

    2. Remove the nut and bolt (22) and then remove the nut and bolt (25). Remove bracket (24).

    3. Remove support bracket (8) from base frame (20).

      Note: The bolts are different lengths. Note the position of the different bolts and the spacer. Note the location and the orientation of the bracket.

  1. If necessary, follow step 1.a through step 1.e in order to install support brackets (2) and support brackets (8) to base frame (20).

    1. Position support brackets (2) on base frame (20). Position spacer (23) between the support bracket and base frame (20).

    2. Loosely install the nut and bolt (21) to support bracket (2).

    3. Install bracket (24) to base frame (20) and loosely install the nut and bolt (25).

    4. Position support brackets (8) on base frame (20).

    5. Loosely install the nut and bolt (22) to support bracket (8).

  2. If necessary, follow step 2.a through step 2.g in order to install brackets (15) to base frame (20).

    1. Position bracket assembly (15) onto base frame (20). Loosely install nuts and bolts (19).

    2. Connect harness assembly (18) to the electronic control module and tighten allen head bolt (17). Use Tooling (A) to tighten allen head bolt (17) to a torque of 5 N·m (44 lb in).

      Note: Care must be taken in order to avoid damage to the connector pins during installation of the harness.

    3. Connect harness assembly (14) to the electronic control module and tighten allen head bolt (16). Use Tooling (A) to tighten allen head bolt (16) to a torque of 5 N·m (44 lb in).

      Note: Care must be taken in order to avoid damage to the connector pins during installation of the harness.

    4. Connect cable assemblies (9) to the switch.

    5. Connect harness assembly (10), harness assembly (11) and harness assembly (12).

    6. Connect harness assembly (13) (not shown).

    7. Install the cover to bracket (5) that covers the wiring harness assembly. Install the bolts and tighten securely.

  3. Position panel (1) on support bracket (2) and support bracket (8). Loosely install bolts (3) to the support brackets.

    Note: The panel should be supported as the bolts are installed.

  4. Tighten the nuts and bolts (19) for bracket assembly (15) to the base frame to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  5. Tighten the nuts and bolts (21) and then tighten the nuts and bolts (22). Tighten to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  6. Tighten the nuts and bolt (25) for the support bracket to the base frame to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  7. Tighten bolts (3) for the panel to a torque of 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Connect wiring harness (4) and wiring harness (5) to panel (1).

  9. Connect wiring harness (6) and wiring harness (7) to panel (1).

  10. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
