  1. Attach Tooling (B) onto Tooling (A). Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto generator (14). The weight of generator (14) is approximately 625 kg (1378 lb).

Note: Ensure the correct center of gravity of the generator.

  2. Use Tooling (A) to position generator (14). Align studs on the flywheel housing with generator (14). Align the studs on flywheel (22) with generator drive plate (21).

Note: If necessary, rotate the crankshaft in order to align studs with the generator drive plate. Do not rotate the generator drive plate in order to align the drive plate with studs.

  3. Install washers to the studs and loosely install new locking nuts (19) to the flywheel housing of generator (14). Loosely install bolts and washers (23) to the flywheel housing of generator (14). The generator should be correctly mounted onto the flywheel housing. Tighten bolts to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft). Tighten locking nuts to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  4. Install washers and loosely install new locking nuts (20) to the studs of drive plate (21) of generator (14). Rotate the crankshaft by one full revolution, in order to align the drive plate for the generator with the flywheel.

Note: Do not rotate the generator drive plate in order to align the generator drive plate with the flywheel.

  5. Tighten locking nuts (20) to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  8. The mounting on engines that are sea water cooled and keel cooled should be aligned with the mounting feet on the base for the generator. Install bolts (15) and tighten to a torque of 190 N·m (140 lb ft).

The mounting for engines that are for the radiator cooled engines. The generator should be aligned with the mounting feet on the base for the generator. Install nuts and bolts (15). Tighten nuts and bolts for the generator and the front engine mountings to a torque of 190 N·m (140 lb ft).

  9. Remove Tooling (A) from generator (14).

  10. Install blanking device (12) and blanking device (13) to lifting eyes on generator (14).

  11. If the engine is installed with the twin wall fuel injection lines install the alarm tank. Position alarm tank (8) onto bracket (10). Install bolts and nuts (11) and tighten bolts and nuts to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  12. Connected tube assembly (9) to alarm tank (8). Tighten tube assembly securely.

  13. Position cable (5) onto mounting foot (7). Install bolt (6). Tighten the 8 mm bolt for cable (5) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

Tighten the 10 mm bolt for cable (5) to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  14. Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2) from terminal box (3). Connect the customer connection to the generator. Install all straps, to cable assemblies, and harness assemblies.

  15. Install cover (2) to the terminal box. Install the bolts and tighten bolts to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  16. Install cable straps (4) in order to connect engine harness assembly to the generator.

  17. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.

  18. Turn the air supply at the air reservoir to the ON position.

End By:

  1. Install the air cleaner housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner Housing - Remove and Install".

  2. Install the panel for the control system and the support bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Control System - Remove and Install".
