  1. Attach Tooling (B) to Tooling (A). Attach Tooling (A) to a suitable lifting device.

  2. Attach Tooling (B) onto engine (32). The weight of engine (32) is approximately 600 kg (1322 lb).

  3. Use Tooling (A) to position engine (32) onto the generator. Align the studs on the flywheel housing with the generator. Align the studs on the flywheel with generator drive plate (39).

Note: If necessary, rotate the crankshaft in order to align studs with the generator drive plate. Do not rotate the generator drive plate in order to align the drive plate with studs.

  4. Install washers and install new locking nuts (36) to the studs of the flywheel housing. Install bolts and washers (37) to the flywheel housing. The generator should be correctly mounted onto the flywheel housing. Tighten locking nuts and bolts to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  5. Install washers and loosely install new locking nuts (38) to the studs for the drive plate (39) of the generator. Rotate the crankshaft by one full revolution, in order to align drive plate (39) for the generator to flywheel (40).

Note: Do not rotate the generator drive plate in order to align the drive plate with the flywheel.

  6. Tighten locking nuts (38) to a torque of 44 N·m (33 lb ft).

  9. The mounting on engines that are sea water cooled and keel cooled should be aligned with the front mounting feet on the base for the generator. Install bolts (33) and tighten to a torque of 190 N·m (140 lb ft).

  10. The mounting for engines that are for the radiator cooled engines. The engines should be aligned with the front mounting feet on the base for the generator. Install nuts and bolts (33). Tighten nuts and bolts for the front engine mountings and the generator mountings to a torque of 190 N·m (140 lb ft).

  11. Remove Tooling (B) and remove Tooling (A) from the engine.

  12. Install blanking device (31) to the rear engine lifting eye and the front engine lifting eye.

  13. Install the engine fan to the engine with a radiator cooling system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install".

  14. For a engine with a radiator cooling system, install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".

  15. For a keel cooled engine and a sea water cooled engine, install hose (5) to the auxiliary water pump and tighten hose clamp securely.

  16. For a keel cooled engine, connect hose (6) to the aftercooler and tighten the hose clamp securely.

  17. For keel cooled engine, connect tube assembly (4) for the water temperature regulator housing and tighten the hose clamp securely.

  18. For keel cooled engine, connect tube assembly (3) for the water pump inlet and tighten the hose clamp securely.

  19. For keel cooled engine, connect vent hose to the exhaust manifold.

  20. Refill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Fill" for the correct procedure.

  21. Turn the valve for the sea water circuit to the ON position.

  22. Connect exhaust system (7) to the exhaust elbow. Install bolts to the exhaust system and tighten bolts securely. Install blanket (8) to the exhaust elbow and the exhaust outlet.

    NOTICE

Ensure that the hose assemblies are installed in the original positions. Failure to connect the hose assemblies to the correct ports will allow contamination to enter the fuel system. Contaminated fuel will cause serious damage to the engine.

  23. Connect hose assembly (9) and hose assembly (10) to the secondary fuel filters and tighten hose securely. Connect hose assembly (14) (not shown) and tighten hose securely.

  24. Connect harness assembly (11) to the differential pressure switch for the primary fuel filters.

  25. Connect harness assembly (12) to the differential pressure switch for the secondary fuel filters. Connect harness assembly (13) (not shown) from the fuel pressure switch.
