Grinding the mount for the hood tilt cylinder may improve service life of the hood tilt cylinder. It is possible that the clevis of the cylinder may catch on the mount as the cylinder rotates on the pin. This interference may cause the cylinder rod to bend when the rod is fully extended.

Grind the mount for the cylinder in order to create more clearance. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2. Grind the mount until there is no interference throughout the complete cycle of the cylinder.
If the hood tilt cylinder is damaged, replace the cylinder with the 251-8281 Hood Tilt Cylinder.
