Introduction

This Technical Information Bulletin details the history of test lines on the listed machines. The purpose of this Technical Information Bulletin is as a reference for the history of changes to the test lines. The reference will ensure that service personnel can identify machines with test lines that are not connected to the appropriate test points.

For any machine, it is important to check if any of the test lines are disconnected before conducting a Testing and Adjusting procedure that requires the use of the test panel. If a required test line has been disconnected, connect the required test line to the required test point and remember to disconnect the test line upon completion of the Testing and Adjusting procedure.

Problem

Initially, the routing of some of the test lines across the engine was considered poor. The poor routing of those test lines could result in leaks.

At a later stage, leakage from any of the test lines was considered to be a potential problem for the containment of oil.

Solution

The first production of the listed machines left the factory with test lines that lead directly from the test panel to the appropriate test points on the tractor of the machine.

When specific test lines were identified as having the potential of leaking, the identified test lines were disconnected before the machine left the factory. The identified test lines were plugged and the appropriate test points were capped. The test lines were folded away from the test points and secured with cable straps. At the same time, a Technical Information Bulletin and Service Letter were published in order to identify the potential problem to the field. Subsequently, earlier machines may have been reworked in order to disconnect the identified test lines as a permanent configuration. For 725 (S/N: AFX) and 730 (S/N: AGF), the lines that were affected were different because earlier machines had different hydraulic systems.

Later when all the test lines were identified as a potential source of oil leaks, all the test lines were disconnected from the test points before the machines left the factory. All of the test lines were plugged. All of the test points were capped. Each of the test lines were moved to a safe position and the test lines were secured with cable straps. In order to avoid confusion in identifying the correct test line for a test point, all of the test lines were marked with a colored tag.

Finally on 725 (S/N: B1L), 730 (S/N: B1M) and 730 EJECTOR (S/N: B1W), the test lines were no longer installed from the factory. For testing and adjusting procedures, service personnel must connect to the test points that are installed on the different machine components.

Important Notice

For any machine, it is important to check if any of the test lines are disconnected before conducting a Testing and Adjusting procedure that requires the use of the test panel. If a required test line has been disconnected, connect the required test line to the required test point and remember to disconnect the test line upon completion of the Testing and Adjusting procedure.
