The optional modem adds the following components to the system:
- Modem (1) to the top of the cabinet
- Modem power supply (2) to the left panel of the cabinet
- Modem transformer (3) to the left panel of the cabinet

The external modem power transformer (T4) (3) is powered from the output of the UPS. The transformer (3) can be either of the two configurations: 230 VAC and 115 VAC. The transformer (3) converts AC voltage to the appropriate level for operating the modem. Refer to Illustration 5 and Illustration 6 for wiring connections.
