The amount of lubricant that is supplied to the bearing is determined by the volume of discharge chamber (4). This volume is controlled by adjustment screw (1). Adjustment screw (1) controls the travel of piston (5). When you turn adjustment screw (1) clockwise, the lubricant that is injected decreases. When you turn adjustment screw (1) counterclockwise, the lubricant that is injected increases.

Movement of stem (3) indicates that the injector is working. When the injector discharges lubricant, stem (3) moves into the body of adjustment screw (1). When the injector is filling with lubricant, stem (3) moves back out of the body of adjustment screw (1).

Adjustment

If an injector has been repaired or an injector has been replaced, proper adjustment of the measuring chamber is required. Proper adjustment of adjustment screw (1) and the measuring chamber will depend on the bearing that is being lubricated. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Lubrication Injector Banks - Adjust" for the specified setting of adjustment screw (1).

------ WARNING! ------

Pressurized lubricant can cause personal injury. During injection, the lube lines are pressurized to 17 000 kPa (2500 psi).

To avoid possible injury, make sure that the lines are not pressurized before adjusting the lube injectors.

Note: Turn adjustment screw (1) by hand. Do not use wrenches.

  1. Remove the cap that covers adjustment screw (1) and loosen locknut (2).

  2. Hand tighten adjustment screw (1) clockwise into the lubrication injector. Turn adjustment screw (1) counterclockwise to the specified number of turns. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Lubrication Injector Banks - Adjust" for the specified setting of adjustment screw (1).

  3. Tighten locknut (2) and replace the cap.

The Spectrum adjustment system is an option that consists of a set of color coded anodized aluminum sleeves that provide an easy way to adjust the output of the injectors. The Spectrum adjustment system gives a clear indication of the lubricant output setting. The result is easy system design and preventive maintenance.
