Description of Change: The shaft assemblies for the crown control now use an improved shaft with an integral U-joint and ball joint assembly. The improvement increases the durability of the shaft assembly.

Adaptable To: Older screeds with 8I-0587 Shaft As and 107-2532 Shaft As can be retrofitted in order to use the new shafts by following the procedure in Special Instruction, REHS3198, "Procedure to Install the New Shaft Assemblies on the Screeds for Large Asphalt Pavers".

The new shaft assemblies are effective with the following Asphalt Screeds.

• 1020B (S/N: BWN2336)

• 8-16B (S/N: BWL264)

The new procedure to install the new shaft assemblies is adaptable to the following Asphalt Screeds.

• 1020B (S/N: BWN1-2335; 2LN1-UP; AGT1-UP)

• 10-20WB (S/N: 2MN1-UP)

• 8-16B (S/N: BWL1-263; 5PL1-UP)

• 8-16B (S/N: BLK1-UP; 2JN1-UP; 7MR1-UP)

• 8FT PAVEMASTER B (S/N: 7NR1-UP)
