Note: Mark the locations of all hose assemblies before you begin removing any components.

Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN THE REMOVAL OR IN THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.

Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to support the work tool.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the front frame of the work tool. The front frame weighs approximately 205 kg (450 lb).

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (2). Use Tooling (B) to remove spanner nut (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (4) and deflector plate (5) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (6) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) to remove cylinder assembly (7) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (8) and (9). Use Tooling (B) to remove spanner nut (10) .

  1. Use two people to remove plate assembly (12) from the work tool. The plate assembly weighs approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Remove bolts (11) that fasten plate assembly (12) to the work tool.

  1. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (13) from cylinder assembly (14) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) to remove cylinder assembly (14) .

  1. Install cylinder assembly (14). Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (13).

  1. Use two people to position plate assembly (12) on the work tool. Secure plate assembly (12) with bolts (11) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) to install spanner nut (10) .

  1. Install O-ring seals and hose assemblies (8) and (9) .

  1. Position cylinder assembly (7) on the work tool. Use Tooling (C) to install retaining ring (6) .

  1. Position plate (5) on the work tool. Fasten plate (5) with bolts (4) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) to install spanner nut (3) .

  1. Install O-ring seals and hose assemblies (1) and (2) .

  1. Remove the work tool from Tooling (A) .
