  1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the upper structure and the undercarriage frame.

  2. Install a suitable towing device onto undercarriage frame assembly (18). Use a suitable towing device and position undercarriage frame assembly (18) under the upper structure. The weight of undercarriage frame assembly (11) is approximately 9525 kg (21000 lb).

  3. Apply a coat of Tooling (E) on the mating surface of the swing gear. Apply a coat of Tooling (E) on the mating surface of the bearing of the undercarriage frame assembly. Use Tooling (C), Tooling (D), and Tooling (B) to lower the upper structure onto the undercarriage frame assembly.

  4. Remove guide studs (17).

  5. Apply Tooling (F) on the threads of bolts (16). Install bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 274 ± 30 N·m (202 ± 22 lb ft). Turn bolts (16) an additional 60°. Connect tube assembly (15).

  6. Install bolts (9).

  7. Install tee (13). Connect hose assemblies (12) and (14).

  8. Connect hose assemblies (8) and install split flanges (10) and bolts (11).

  9. Connect hose assemblies (6) and (7).

  10. Remove Tooling (C) and Tooling (D) from the machine. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1328, "Lift Groups (Stand - 60 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (F).

  11. Connect the tracks.

  12. Remove Tooling (A).

  13. Install right hand boom cylinder (5). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Cylinder - Remove and Install".

  14. Start the machine and raise the boom. Remove Tooling (B) from the stick.

  15. Remove bolts (2) and cover (3) from each final drive.

  16. Install sun gear (4) in each final drive.

  17. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the ring gear and cover (3). Apply a bead of Tooling (E) around the machined surface of the ring gear. Position cover (3) in the original position on the ring gear.

  18. Apply Tooling (F) on the threads of bolts (2) which hold cover (3) in position. Install bolts (2) and the washers that hold the cover.

  19. Fill each final drive with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil Level - Check".

End By:

  1. Install the bucket.
