312C and 315C Excavators Tool Control System Caterpillar

System G14: Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust - Auxiliary Control Valve (Medium Pressure)

Usage:

315C ANF
Complete the following steps in order:

  1. Position the machine on level ground and stop the engine.

  1. Release the pressure on the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic system Pressure - Release".

    (2) Pressure tap

  1. Connect a 60000 kPa (8700 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (2) .

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Perform the calibration procedure for engine speed in Engine and Pump, "Engine Speed Calibration".

  1. Place the machine controls at the following settings: engine speed dial "10" and AEC switch OFF. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for engine rpm settings.

  1. Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).

  1. Set the pilot pressure to the specifications in Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Pilot) Test and Adjust".

  1. Move the left joystick slide control forward or backward.

  1. Check the pressure setting of the main relief valve for the Auxiliary Control Valve (Medium Pressure) on the pressure gauge. The pressure setting should be within the specifications for this valve.

  1. Return the left joystick slide control to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. If the pressure setting is not within the specifications, loosen locknut (4) and adjust the main relief valve to a pressure setting of 20600 ± 500 kPa (2990 ± 72 psi). Turn the adjustment screw clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure.

  1. Repeat steps 10 through 12 in order to obtain the proper reading.

Note: Always make final pressure adjustments on pressure rise.
