Emergency Stopping Procedures
Usage:
To stop the engine in an emergency situation:
Stop the engine - as quickly as possible; see Step 7 of the topic, STOPPING.
Engines equipped with a mechanical shutoff device, as shown, have an additional emergency shutoff button. Push and hold the emergency stop button momentarily to allow the overspeed mechanism to trip and start slowing the engine.

This button has a skirt. Do not confuse it with the flat, disc shaped button which is used to reset this shutoff device. Use this emergency shutoff button only for emergencies. Do not use it for normal stopping. |
MECHANICAL SHUTOFF DEVICE
- 1. EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON - This button is rounded on the edge and has a skirt.
- 2. SHUTOFF CONTROL RESET BUTTON - This button is flat and with no skirt.
