Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Prepare the machine for disassembly and assembly procedures. For additional information, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Preparation for Disassembly".

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool. |
- Open the hood. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tilt Hood".
- Lower the bottom guard. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering".
- Remove clip (1) and move hose (2) away from the engine.

- Release the tension on belt tensioner (3). Remove serpentine belt (4) from crankshaft pulley (5) .

- Remove bolts (7) and vibration damper (6) .

- Remove bolts (8), washer (9), and crankshaft pulley (5) .
- Remove crankshaft front seal (10) from the engine.
Note: Do not damage the flange of the crankshaft during the removal of the seal.

Note: Ensure that the flange of the crankshaft and the front housing are thoroughly clean before you install the crankshaft front seal.
- Position installation sleeve (11). Installation sleeve (11) will come with the new crankshaft front seal (10). Use Tooling (A), washer (9), and bolts (8) to install crankshaft front seal (8) .

Note: Refer to the Specifications Module, "Crankshaft Seals" for information on the distance between the following items: the front face of the crankshaft front seal and the front face of the front housing.
- Remove installation sleeve (11) from the crankshaft front seal after crankshaft front seal (10) has been installed.
Note: The crankshaft seal is designed to be installed dry.
- Install crankshaft pulley (5), washer (9), and bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 190 ± 30 N·m (140 ± 22 lb ft).

- Install vibration damper (6) and bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 70 ± 15 N·m (52 ± 11 lb ft).
- Release the tension on belt tensioner (3). Install serpentine belt (4) on crankshaft pulley (5) .

- Install clip (1) in order to secure hose (2) .

- Raise the bottom guard. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bottom Guard Lowering".
- Close the hood. For additional information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Tilt Hood".
