SUBJECT: SOME RELAYS MAY BE INCORRECTLY LABELED
PROBLEM:
The 3E-5239 Relay may have been incorrectly labeled from the supplier. The relays where built with a 12 volt coil instead of the 24 volt coil that is required. The relay should have a date code printed on the outside. Relays that were built with the date code of "0247" have been determined to be defective. The date code should be printed on the outside cover of the relay. However, not all relays will have a date code printed on the cover. Machines that were built between November 17, 2002 and April 25, 2003 may have the faulty relays. The 3E-5239 Relay should be checked if an electrical problem is detected in one of the following circuits:
- Cab Rear Defrost
- A/C Condenser Fan
- Fuel Pump Supply
- Thermal Starting Aid
- Float System ? (924Gz only)
- Ride Control
- Secondary Steering
- Engine Speed Control
SOLUTION:
Using an Electrical Test Meter, check for continuity between PINS 85 and 86 of the relay. If the coil is found to have and open circuit, the 3E-5239 Relay should be replaced with a new relay.
