Problem:
Interference may exist between the 0T-0772 Bolts, that were originally used to hold the 6I-9173 Bearing Race Support Assembly to the lockup clutch hub, and the spring loaded 6I-9173 Thrust Bearing Race. (See Illustrations 1 and 2.)
Solution:
It is recommended that ten 6K-3771 Bolts be used in place of the 0T-0772 Bolts. (See the June 27, 1994 Reference.)
However, it for some reason that is not possible, care should be taken when tightening the 0T-0772 Bolts to make sure that a flat of the bolt head is adjacent to the spring loaded race when the final torque specification has been reached. (See Illustration 3.)
If a bolt head point is adjacent to the race, it could come in contact with, and prevent free movement, of the spring loaded thrust bearing race. The contact could result in thrust bearing damage.
