PROBLEM
Show/hide table
Certain 226D Skid Steer Loaders have only one engine arrangement number for worldwide application. Caterpillar now needs to separate the machine population regionally to support regional updates to the engine hardware/software that may be required in the future.
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 32% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.

Rework Procedure
TOOLS REQUIRED FOR THE REWORK: 1 - Heat Gun 2 - Blunt Scraper 3 - Loctite 5900 Black Adhesive Sealant (Loctite SI5900) or Loctite 454 Prism Instant Adhesive (Loctite 454) 4 - Loctite Non-Chlorinated Parts Cleaner (SF 7633CL) 5 - Lint free cloth 6 - EMERY cloth
Step 1 - Open Engine Access Door and Tilt Radiator to improve access. Refer to "Engine Access Door" and "Radiator Tilting" in Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9084 for instructions.

Step 3 - Replace the China Export label, located on oil sump side wall, see Image 1.3.1:
- Using a blunt scraper lift the corner of the label taking care not to cut or damage the paint. - The label should be easy to peal once heat has been applied so gently remove the rest of the label. ? Ensure to do this quickly as the label will cool again making it more difficult to remove.
NOTE: May not be possible to remove the label in one piece, however if it is proving difficult to remove it may be necessary to apply more heat.
- Once the label has been removed, check the area for any excess glue or dirt, clean the area with the Loctite SF7633CL using a lint free cloth. - Install the replacement China Export label see Image 1.3.2, to the same original label location.

Step 4 - Replace the EPA Emission label, located on the engine valve cover, see Image 1.4.1
NOTE: Two versions of the EPA Emissions label have been used in engine production, for C82 Engine Prefix refer to Image 1.4.2 and for C83 Engine Prefix refer to Image 1.4.3.
NOTE: It maybe necessary to disconnect a number of the injector electrical connectors and the crankcase breather hose to improve access, refer to the relevant section in the Disassembly and Assembly manual (UENR4528).
