The existing bearings may fail in a rear suspension cylinder on certain 770G and 772G Off-Highway Trucks. The bearings may fail if the incorrect bearing part number was installed. Similar bearings are the same size but do not have the same pathways for grease to move inside the bearing to provide proper lubrication. If the existing bearings are of the incorrect part number (6J-1144), they are subject to failure due to lack of proper lubrication. |

BEARING-ALIGNING |
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 2% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
|
Failure in this letter is defined as lack of bearing lubrication due to incorrect 6J-1144 Bearings being installed in a rear suspension cylinder. Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary to remove the rear suspension cylinder and install the (correct) 342-4640 Bearings. The 342-4640 Bearing has internal passages to allow grease to move from the pin to the outside spherical surface. |
