PROBLEM
Certain steering actuator valve groups may cause excessive steering system codes to be generated. |
ACTION REQUIRED
A. Remove all 308-0938 and 394-8186 Steering Actuator Valve Groups from dealer parts stock and replace with new 471-7935 Steering Actuator Valve Groups. The 308-0938 Steering Actuator Valve Group has an ID number of 11020776. The 394-8186 Steering Actuator Valve Group has an ID number of 11108994. Refer to Image1. B. Remove all 308-0934 Steering Control Valve Groups from dealer parts stock and replace with new 355-4097 Steering Valve Group. C. Remove all 308-0935, 308-0936, 308-0937, 355-4097, and 380-0405 Steering Control Valve Groups from dealer parts stock. Inspect each part per the following steps: 1. Verify the steering actuator valve group part number. If the 471-7935 Steering Actuator Valve Group is located on the actuator, the steering control valve group does not need to be reworked and should be returned to dealer parts stock. Refer to Image2. If the 471-7935 Steering Actuator Valve Group is missing from the actuator, proceed to Step 2 to replace the actuator. 2. Remove the four actuator bolts with a 5mm Allen wrench. 3. Remove the actuator from the steering control valve group. 4. Verify that the check valve is fully inserted in the steering valve group. Refer to Image3. If the check valve is accidentally removed from the steering control valve group, fully insert the check valve back into the steering control valve group with the orientation shown in Image3. 5. Replace actuator with a new 471-7935 Steering Actuator Valve Group. Verify part number on new actuator and that all seals and four bolts are present. Refer to Image4. If seals are missing, replace with new 9T-4057 or 301-5167 O-Ring Seals, as required. Assemble the actuator to the steering control valve group and tighten the Allen head bolts to a specified torque of 8 +/- 0.5 N.m. |
