Usage:
(3) 5D1499 Shim thickness ... .042 in.(1.07 mm)
5D1500 Shim thickness ... .010 in.(0.25 mm)
5D4363 Shim thickness ... .005 in.(0.13 mm)
(5) Put lubricant on nuts, washers, and threads before assembly.
Torque for 12 studs ... 400 ± 40 lb. ft.(540 ± 55 N·m)
Torque for 12 nuts ... 1100 ± 100 lb. ft.(1485 ± 135 N·m)
(11) Distance from end of pin to face of housing ... .62 ± .06 in.(15.7 ± 1.5 mm)
Use this procedure to get the correct amount of shims (3):
Step 1. Put 2P2506 Lubricant on the threads and taper of kingbolt (9), the face of nut (4), and the taper in support assembly (10).
Step 2. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Grease on the spherical surface of kingbolt (9).
Step 3. Install cap (8) on kingbolt (9). Install kingbolt (9) into support assembly (10).
Step 4. Install nut (4), tighten to a torque of 1900 ± 190 lb. ft. (2570 ± 260 N·m), and stake the threads (make a mark with a punch) on kingbolt (9).
Step 5. Install four bolts (7) at even spaces around cap (8). Install socket (2) on bolts (7). Do not install shims (3) or seal (6).
Step 6. Put nuts (1) on bolts (7). Tighten the nuts evenly until there is a small restriction to movement of cap (8) and socket (2) on kingbolt (9)
Step 7. Use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between socket (2) and cap (8) at each bolt (7).
Step 8. Make a thickness of shims (3) (use a minimum of six 5D4363 Shims and use 5D1499 and 5D1500 Shims as needed) the same as the distance measured plus ... .001 to .006 in.(0.03 to 0.15 mm)
Step 9. Remove nuts (1), socket (2) and bolts (7).
Step 10. Install seal (6), shims (3) and socket (2).
Step 11. Connect the assembly to the frame. Install eight bolts (7) and tighten to ... 390 ± 15 lb. ft.(530 ± 20 N·m)
