Usage:
Problem
A new hydraulic hose and guards for the turbocharger and exhaust piping need to be installed on certain D44, D44B, D550, and D550B Articulated Dump Trucks.

Service Claim Allowances
NOTE: This is a 16-hour job to fabricate the new parts, and a 4-hour job to install the new parts. Claim the actual material costs for the fabricated parts.
Parts Disposition
Any parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) can be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.

Rework Procedure
1. Lower the tractor suspension to the service position.
2. Remove the hydraulic tank filler cap and the priming plug from the hydraulic pump suction line.
3. Replace the 6U0372 Hose, which is connected between the rear cartridge of the hydraulic pump and the supplemental steering valve, with the new 7U6832 Hose.
4. Install the priming port plug and the hydraulic tank cap.
NOTE: Do not fully tighten the mounting hardware in the following steps, except where specified, until all of the fabricated parts are installed and aligned.

5. Remove the two rear heat shield securing bolts from the left and right side manifolds. Install the left and right mounting strips (Items #3 & #4) using the four 0S1594 Bolts and the original washers.
6. Attach the mounting strips to the left and right guards (Items #5 & #7) using two 8T2502 Bolts, four 8T4896 Washers, and two 6V8801 Nuts.
7. Install the mounting plate (Item #2) on the rear of the engine manifold using the top two nuts and washers of the manifold plate. Tighten these nuts.
8. Attach the center guard (Item #6) to the mounting plate (Item #2) using two 4L6454 Bolts, four 8T4896 Washers, and two 6V8801 Nuts.
9. Attach the center guard (Item #6) to the left and right guards (Items #5 & #7) using three 5S7379 Bolts, six 8T4896 Washers, and three 6V8801 Nuts.
10. Remove the hardware securing the muffler mounting. Install the front guard (Item #8) under the muffler. Install and tighten the muffler mounting hardware.
11. Attach Lugs (Items #1 & #2) to the right and center guards using two 4L6454 Bolts, four 8T4896 Washers, and two 6V8801 Nuts. Secure the two lugs to the exhaust pipe joint using the existing hardware.
12. Tighten all the mounting hardware that was left loose for alignment and installation purposes.
