Usage:
768C, 772B, 776 Tractors And 769C, 773B, 777 Trucks
Description of Change: New bolts and axle housings are used on the machines shown above. The bolts that were formerly used to hold the retainer in position were shorter than the new bolts. The former bolts also used a lockwire to hold them in place. The new bolts are tightened to a higher torque than the former ones. The new axle housings were necessary because of the longer bolts.
Adaptable As: The new bolts and axle housings are direct replacements for the former parts when used together as shown in the chart. Tighten the new bolts to a torque of 255 ± 14 N·m (185 ± 10 lb ft).
NOTICE |

Do not use the 5P9118 Bolts with the former axle housings. If the new bolts are used with the former axle housings, the bearings will not have the correct preload.
