PROBLEM
The auxiliary pumps incorporated into certain AP-1000 Pavers over a limited period of time have been recently found to contain a single asbestos-containing part that was inadvertently included by the pump supplier. Although the part in question is encapsulated and entirely enclosed within the pump, the pump does not comply with Caterpillar policies and specifications and must be replaced with an acceptable replacement pump. Because the pumps will be replaced in their entirety, there will be no need for anyone at any time to disassemble the pumps and remove or handle the internal part in question in any way. If any effort is made to do so despite these instructions, the general cautions about handling asbestos-containing materials, which can be found in your Operation & Maintenance Manual, should be consulted. |
