Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

- Remove rear wheel spindle bolt (12).
- Install a new spindle bolt, and torque the bolt to
1200 ± 100 N·m (885 ± 75 lb ft) . - Repeat steps 2 through 3 for rear wheel spindle bolts (13) through (16).
- Repeat tightening of bolts (12) through (16) in a circular pattern to
1200 ± 100 N·m (885 ± 75 lb ft) to insure all bolts are evenly tightened. - Turn each bolt an extra 90 ± 5 degrees.
- Repeat steps 2 through 6 for the rear wheel spindle bolts (12) through (16) on the other side of the machine.
