A New Cylinder Liner Insert Is Now Used On Certain 3500 Engines {1201, 1217}

Usage:

793B 1HL
Engine
3500 and G3500 Engines

Description Of Change: A new sealed insert which utilizes an edge bonded rubber seal has been introduced to replace the current liner inserts.

Adaptable To: Sealing insert kits 473-0493 and 473-0494 which will be used in place of former inserts.

Refer to Reuse and Salvage Guidelines, SEBF8255, "Procedure to Salvage Cylinder Blocks of 3500 Engines" for application and installation information.

Note: Serviced only as a kit containing one insert, and one seal, individual seals are not available, and these new parts must be used as a set. 489-0635 Tool As has been released to install the new inserts.

The sealed inserts were implemented in 3500 Series Cat Remanufactured Engines in October 2015, for blocks that were salvaged with inserts.
