The article, "New Air Cleaner Group Has Six Clamps For Improved Seal," announced the new group for 3412 Industrial and Marine Engines.

A similar change has been made in production of the D353, D379, D398 and D399 Industrial, Marine and Generator Set Engines. Two new 5N9369 Housing Assemblies and two new 5N9368 Cover Assemblies are used in place of the two former 5N2669 Housing Assemblies and two 5N2969 Cover Assemblies, respectively. The sequence in which to tighten the clamps is the same as shown in the article. These changes are in effect with Serial Numbers 66B9511, 67B2384, 68B7681, 69B2145, 72B1045, 73B1696, 35B6641, 49C955, 91B1362, 34Z859, 35Z989 and 36Z1120.

Description of Change: A new basic air cleaner group which has six clamps is used for 3412 Industrial and Marine Engines. The six clamps are used in comparison to four on the former air cleaner. A specific sequence to tighten the clamps gives an improved seal between the housing and element.

Adaptable As: The parts in the new air cleaner group are a direct replacement for the former group as shown in the chart.

Two air cleaner groups are used on 3412 Industrial Engines; one is used on 3412 Marine Engines. The illustration shows the correct sequence to tighten the clamps.
