每个缸有一个点火变压器。 主 ECM (1) 控制左排点火。 从 ECM (2) 控制右排点火。 为了启动燃烧,ECM 在适当的时间向每个点火变压器的初级线圈发送一个大约 100 伏的脉冲,并维持适当的持续时间。 变压器提高电压,以便通过火花塞电极产生火花。

爆震传感器可监控发动机的爆震。 G3520 发动机 有十个爆震传感器。 每个传感器监测两个相邻的气缸。 每个 ECM 处理传感器产生的震动数据,以确定爆震水平。 主 ECM 监测左排传感器,从 ECM 监测右排传感器。 从 ECM 将右侧传感器的状态通信给主 ECM。 只在上死点之前 9 度和上死点之后 40 度之间监测爆震。 这样可以避免检测到与爆震无关的振动。

如果发生爆震,主 ECM 将受影响气缸的点火正时延迟最多 6 度。 如果气缸已完全延迟 16 个燃烧周期但气缸仍旧爆震,ECM 会关停发动机。 在爆震关停请求期间,ECM 会将爆震气缸再延迟 6 度,总共不超过 10 度。

火花塞没有常规的可调整的电极间隙。 火花塞有一个预燃室。 在压缩冲程期间,气缸中的空气 / 燃料混合气进入火花塞预燃室的孔中。 变压器次级电路向火花塞提供最初 8,000 到 32,000 V 电压以便产生火花。 空气 / 燃料混合气点燃气缸中的空气 / 燃料混合气。
