Description Of Change: The repair consists of applying RTV sealant to the long edge seam inside the air conditioning duct. However, by accessing the inside of the air conditioner unit through the fresh air filter vent, the procedure is a blind repair. The following description is written to guide the repair knowing that this procedure is a blind repair area.
Adaptable To: Follow the procedure below unless the repair has already been completed. If a recent leak has been noticed, reapply additional RTV.
This repair in the air conditioner is adaptable to and effective with the following machines.

Repair Procedure
- Loosen the two thumb screws on the fresh air grill and remove the fresh air grill cover.

Under the wire harness is a long edge seam. Follow the seam left (approximately
254 mm (10 inch) ) toward the outside of the machine and right (approximately102 mm (4 inch) ) toward the center of the machine. - This long edge seam, and around the corner at each end of the long edge seam, is the area where the RTV sealant should be applied. Refer to Illustrations 4, 5, 6, and 7.
- Apply RTV sealant to the full length of the edge seam and around each corner for an additional
25 mm (0.98 inch) . Refer to Illustrations 4, 5, 6, and 7. - Reinstall the air filter and air filter cover.
- After RTV has setup/cured/dried, turn on the air conditioner and check for leaks.

Apply a generous bead of RTV sealant to the edge seam of the Air Conditioner box described above. Start the application on the machine right-hand side and work your way to the left to minimize mess. Machine left-hand side vertical seam is at an odd angle so take care. The gap is generally the biggest on the top side of the seam nearest both corners.
Alternate Method If The Air Conditioner/Heater Box Is Out Of The Machine
Remove The Motor Housing Cover
- Remove AC/Heater box motor housing cover.
- Eight screws secure the cover to the AC/Heater box. One screw on each side and three each on the top and bottom.
- The cover slides out best with bottom edge tucked into the box and tilted to clear the platform wall on the machine right-hand side.

Apply RTV To The Seam
- Apply a generous bead of RTV sealant to the seam of the AC/Heater box between the drip passage and the air passage.
- Gap is biggest on the top side of the seam nearest both corners.
- Machine left-hand side vertical seam is tucked under housing face.
