- Wheel Tractor-Scraper:
- 613CSeries II (S/N: 8LJ1-UP)
Description of Change: Shims have been added to the hitch and the draft frame assembly in order to prevent contact between the draft frame and the door glass. Contact may occur when the articulation stops for the left hand side of the machine and the oscillation stops for the right hand side of the tractor make contact.
Adaptable To: Contact can occur between the cab door and the draft frame. The contact between the cab door and the draft frame can be reduced. A shim has been added to the articulation stop on the left side of the 2T-0354 Hitch. A shim has been added to the articulation stop on the left side of the 230-7896 Frame As .
Use two thin shims instead of one thick shim. This will help reduce the angle of contact between the stops. The use of two shims will also maximize the contact area between the stops. This modification became effective in production with the machine 8LJ2929-UP. This modification can be performed on machines back to the start of production. Use the following procedure in order to upgrade earlier machines.
- Fabricate two shims from steel that meets the requirements of ASTM A36 or ASTM A36M. This is structural steel that has a yield strength of 207 - 450 MPa (30022 - 65267 psi). The dimensions for the shims follow.
- (A) 69.9 mm (2.75 inch)
- (B) 44.5 mm (1.75 inch)
- (C) 6.5 + 2.1 − 1.5 mm (0.26 + 0.08 − 0.06 inch)
- (A) 69.9 mm (2.75 inch)

- By using a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld (W1), weld one shim to the articulation stop on the left side of the draft frame.
Note: If a shim is on the articulation stop for the draft frame, do not weld a second shim on top of the existing shim. Ensure that there is no gap under the shim.

- By using a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld (W2), weld one shim to the articulation stop on the left side of the hitch.
Note: If a shim is on the articulation stop for the hitch, do not weld a second shim on top of the existing shim. Ensure that there is no gap under the shim.
