Usage:
Problem
The service brake groups on certain 966E Wheel Loaders may leak due to an incorrectly machined o-ring port. A wheel cylinder kit needs to be installed in 8R1257 Service Brake Groups on the machines listed below.

Parts Stock
Remove and inspect all 8R1257 Service Brake Groups in parts stock for correctly machined ports. See Action Required for the Affected Product to inspect the brake groups. Mark all 8R1257 Service Brake Groups with incorrectly machined ports 'DO NOT USE."
Affected Product
1. Machine a washer to the following dimensions. Use the washer with a machine screw as a no-go gauge.
- Outside Diameter ... 15.130 mm (Exact)
- Thickness ... 2.67 ± .02 mm
NOTE: A 9N1627 or 5D0907 Washer can be machined to the 15.130 mm Outside Diameter.
2. Park the machine on a flat surface with the parking brake engaged.
3. Disconnect the elbow from each service brake cylinder and check the port as follows.
A) Position the washer in the port o-ring face.
B) If machined correctly, the washer surface will be flush with the port spot face.
C) If the washer enters deeper than 0.2 mm beyond the spotface, replace the brake cylinder.
4. Clean the threads and apply pipe sealant before tightening the new brake cylinder.
5. Connect and remove the air (Bleed) from all brake lines.

Submit one claim for all 8R1257 Service Brake Groups removed from parts stock.

NOTE: This is a 2-hour job to rework all four brake groups.

Any parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) can be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
