废气流入涡轮机壳体的废气进口 (10)。 废气继而推动涡轮机叶轮 (5)的叶片。 涡轮机叶轮和压缩机叶轮转速达到 90,000 rpm。
由压缩机叶轮 (1)的转动,把空气和燃料通过压缩机壳体空气进口 (7)吸入。 压缩机叶轮叶片的旋转作用使空气/燃料混合气得到压缩。
涡轮增压器中的轴承 (2)和轴承 (4)使用发动机机油进行压力润滑。 机油经由进油管被输送到顶部的进油口 (3)。 机油继而经由涡轮增压器中段内的油道润滑涡轮增压器轴承。 机油从底部的机油出口 (9)流出。 此机油然后通过排油管流回到发动机缸体内。
涡轮增压器的轴承壳体也能被缸套水冷却液冷却。 从冷却液进液管冷却液进入中段侧。 冷却液流经轴承壳体的冷却液通道 (8)。 冷却液随后流出涡轮增压器中段的对侧。
