Inspection
The transmission input shaft gears should be examined during Disassembly and Assembly of the transmission. These gears could sustain damage in the event of a torsional coupler failure or high occurrences of E358 Event codes.
Refer to Reuse and Salvage Guidelines, SEBF8193, "Reusability of Drive Train Gears", "Crack Detection" for appropriate methods to inspect these specific gears for possible cracks.
Prevention
Also, review Product Status Report (PSRPT) for any E358 events. When low engine rpm operation is detected, the ECM will automatically shift the transmission to the NEUTRAL position to prevent continuous low engine speed operation and a potential engine stall condition. When this occurs, a level 2, E358 (Engine Underspeed) event will be displayed and logged.
Operator training may be needed to ensure an elevated engine speed of 1800 rpm or greater when working the machine. Ensure that the appropriate gear is selected to avoid lugging the engine below low idle.
