Usage:
All 3500 Generator Set Engines
Current production is now using the new double shielded bearings. The 6V0410 and 6V3310 Single Shielded Bearings have been replaced with 1081761 and 1081760 Double Shielded Bearings. The double shielded bearing prevents over greasing and protects rolling elements from large particles of contamination. When replacing a generator bearing, be sure to order the double shielded designed bearings. Refer to the chart for details.
Remove Bearing from the generator. (Refer to the Service Manual.)
NOTICE |
---|
If the bearing is being removed for inspection or failure analysis, do not cut the bearing off of the shaft with a torch. Use a bearing puller to remove the bearing intact.

Replace grease every major/engine overhaul if Prime Power. Replace grease every three year if Stand-by.
When greasing the bearings the following procedure is recommended:
1. Make sure the supply tube to the bearing cavity is filled with grease.
2. Add two ounces of grease every 2000 hours. Use 2S3230 Grease, or refer to lubrication plate. Make sure that drain plug is open. The unit must again be operated at operating speed for 30 minutes to one hour with drain plug removed. This allows the grease to expand, forcing the excess grease out the drain and relieving the internal pressure. The excess grease will stop draining when normal pressure in the bearing is obtained. This usually take ten to 30 minutes. However, the plug should be left out until the grease stops purging. (Grease may not drain until more hours are accumulated.)
3. Clean and replace the drain plug.
4. DO NOT MIX GREASES!
