Usage:
Torque Sequence
9Y8807
Tighten the bolts that hold the flywheel housing to the block in the sequence that follows:
a. Tighten bolts 1 through 21 in number sequence to ... 40 ± 10 N·m (30 ± 7 lb ft)
b. Retighten bolts 1 through 8 in number sequence to ... 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft)
c. Retighten bolts 9 through 21 in number sequence to ... 55 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft)
NOTE: Front face of flywheel housing and rear face of block must be free of oil, dirt, water, assembly compounds and other contaminants during assembly. With an authorized applicator, apply a continuous film of 9S3263 Thread Lock to entire joint face.
NOTE: Cut the gasket between the flywheel housing and the block flush with the bottom of the flywheel housing after assembly.
(1) Maximum permissible change from an exact vertical face (face run-out) at 4 points (total indicator reading) ... 0.38 mm (.015 in)
Tighten drain plug on right side of housing to a torque of ... 55 ± 14 N·m (40 ± 10 lb ft)
Refer to the Flywheel Housing Runout and Flywheel Housing Bore in the Systems Operation, Testing & Adjusting for the correct methods of flywheel housing inspection.
