This section provides detailed information on how to use the guidance and text information views for the AccuGrade System.

Blade Focus

Position information shown on the Display relates to the blade focus point. Horizontal guidance is given to the blade tip that has focus. The red square on the blade indicates which part of the blade has focus.

The blade focus should not be confused with the vertical guidance point.

Illustration 1 shows the Cutting Edge Focus and Vertical Points in the Plan View.

Machine Symbols

The software for the AccuGrade System uses a variety of symbols for display in the Plan and Profile Views. The symbol that appears on the screen depends on the machine type that the AccuGrade System is configured for.

The cutting edge tip in a symbol corresponds exactly to the cutting edge tip of your machine.

As you move the machine and blade, the symbol mimics the movements on the screen.

Note: If you drive the symbol off the edge of the display, by default the display automatically follows, "auto pans", to the symbol.

Using The Display

You can adjust the magnification and central position of the Plan, Cross-section, and Profile Views to get a clearer view of your machine in relation to the current design.

Zoom In

Press the "+" key in order to zoom in the current view. When you zoom in you see more detail on the screen. The machine symbol is drawn bigger to remain in proportion to the other features displayed in the view. As you zoom in, less of the design and linework will be displayed. You can zoom in until the blade fills the screen.

Zoom Out

Press the "-" key in order to zoom out the current view. When you zoom out you see less detail on the screen. The machine symbol is drawn smaller to remain in proportion to the other features displayed in the view. As you zoom out, more of the design and linework will be displayed. You can zoom out so far that the machine symbol is hardly visible on the screen. When you zoom out this far, the machine symbol is no longer drawn to scale. This makes sure you can always see the machine symbol in the current view.

Zoom All

In Plan View, press the "Zoom All" soft key in order to resize the view so that the machine symbol and all linework are visible. The display includes the Site and Design Avoidance Zones, Site Map, the Background Plan, and the design boundary.

In the Cross-section View, press the "Zoom All" soft key in order to resize the view to a maximum of 100 m left and 100 m right of the machine blade.

Zoom Machine

Press the "Zoom Machine"soft key in order to resize the current view around the machine symbol. This resizes the view and puts the machine symbol in the center of the screen. The width of the new view is described below:

  • Ten blade-widths in the Plan View. For example, if your blade-width is 3 m, the new view shows 30 m across the screen.

  • Four blade-widths in the Cross-section View and in the Profile View. For example, if your blade-width is 3 m, the new view shows 12 m across the screen.

The sizes of the Plan View, Cross-section View, and Profile View are saved when you turn off the Display. The views are automatically loaded at their previous size when you next use the system.

Auto Pan

Note: The "Auto Pan" feature is defaulted to ON. The OFF function must be set up in the Configuration mode.

The software for the AccuGrade System includes an automatic panning "Auto Pan" function that follows the machine icon as the machine moves around the design, in order to ensure that the machine icon stays on the screen. When "Auto Pan:ON" is displayed, auto pan is turned ON. If your machine drives off the screen, the machine icon appears on the opposite side of the screen, driving toward the center. Leave the auto pan feature "ON" for normal operations. Turn auto pan feature "OFF" before you manually pan.

Pan

You can manually pan around the Plan View to look at those parts of the design, such as Site Avoidance Zones, Design Avoidance Zones, Site Map, and Background Plan that are off the screen at the current zoom level. In order to pan manually follow these steps:

  1. If the OFF function is set up in the "Configuration" mode then, in Plan View, if auto pan is "ON", press the "Auto Pan:ON" soft key in order to turn auto pan "OFF".

  1. Use the arrow keys in order to move the view. For example, press the right arrow key in order to show more of the plan to the right.
