Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement. Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine. |
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |

- Move key switch (1) to the ON position.

- Move engine start switch (2) to the START position. Release the engine start switch when the engine starts.

- Move throttle control switch (4) to the HIGH IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed should increase to 2310 rpm.
- Move screed lower switch (3) to the RAISE position. Completely raise the screed.
- Engage screed lock (5) on both sides of the machine.

- Rotate speed dial (7) to the MAXIMUM position.

- Move parking brake switch (8) to the OFF position.
- Use propulsion lever (6) in order to control the speed, and use this lever in order to control the direction of travel (forward or reverse).
- Drive the machine to a clear area that is free from personnel and equipment. The area must be clear within a minimum radius of the machine of 30.5 m (100 ft). The area must be level. The area must have a hard, consistent surface.
- Move propulsion lever (6) to the NEUTRAL position.
- Move parking brake switch (8) to the ON position.
- Move travel mode switch (9) to the PAVE position.
- Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (A). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43° ± 5.6°C (110° ± 10°F).
- Open the access panel of the center console.

- Locate propulsion override connector (10) .
- Remove four screws (11). Remove access panel (12) from the back of the left steering column.

- Plug propulsion override connector (10) into receptacle (13) .

- Establish a 6 m (20 ft) string line in front of the machine. The string line should run from the center of one track, and run parallel with the track.
- Move parking brake switch (8) to the OFF position.
- Simultaneously move these switches into the FORWARD position:
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- propulsion override switch (15) for the right track.
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- Use foot per minute gauge (16) in order to record the speed that the machine travels in the forward direction.

- After the machine has moved 6 m (20 ft), simultaneously release the following switches:
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- propulsion override switch (15) for the right track.
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- Move parking brake switch (8) to the ON position.
- Measure the distance of the machine drift. The machine may drift to the left (B) or the machine may drift to the right (C). The drift cannot exceed the amount that is specified in illustration 9.

- Establish a 6 m (20 ft) string line to the rear of the machine. The string line should run from the center of one track, and run parallel with the track.
- Move parking brake switch (8) to the OFF position.
- Simultaneously move these switches into the REVERSE position:
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- propulsion override switch (15) for the right track.
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- Use foot per minute gauge (16) to record the speed of the machine travels traveling in the reverse direction.
- After the machine has moved 6 m (20 ft), simultaneously release the following switches:
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- propulsion override switch (15) for the right track.
- propulsion override switch (14) for the left track
- Move parking brake switch (8) to the ON position.
- Move throttle control switch (4) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
- After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (2) to the OFF position.
- Move key switch (1) to the OFF position.
- Measure the distance that the machine drifts. The machine may drift to the left (E) or the machine may drift to the right (F). The drift cannot exceed the amount specified in the above illustration.

- Use the information in Table 2 in order to determine if an adjustment should be made.
- If no adjustment is necessary, go to Step 41. If an adjustment is necessary, go to Step 37.
- Open the pump compartment, which is on the left side of the machine.
- Loosen locknut (17) on the pump adjustment mechanism. Turn adjustment screw (18) as indicated in Table 2. You may have to adjust both pumps.

- Hold adjustment screw (18), and tighten locknut (17) .
- Close the pump compartment door. Go to Step 18.
- Unplug propulsion override connector (10). Store the connector in the center console. Close the door of the center console.
- Replace cover (12) on the propulsion override switches.
