The 165-3812 Diaphragm that controls the ratio of air to fuel is no longer available from Caterpillar as a serviceable component of the fuel injection pumps that are on the machines that are listed above. Repair and replacement of the fuel ratio control diaphragm on Delphi fuel injection pumps must be carried out by an authorized Delphi dealer. Replacement of the fuel ratio control diaphragm requires checking the settings on the fuel pump after the repair is completed. This check must be made on a fuel injection test bench that has been properly calibrated in order to maintain compliance with emissions standards of the EPA. These tests can only be carried out by an authorized Delphi dealer.

Delphi has increased the warranty of the fuel ratio control diaphragm for pumps that were manufactured in October 2002 or a previous date. The warranty has been extended for an additional 12 months. The new warranty on the pumps covers only the fuel ratio control diaphragm. The fuel ratio control diaphragm will have warranty coverage for 24 months from the date in service. The fuel ratio control diaphragm will be covered for a maximum of 30 months from the manufactured date of the pump. Components in pumps that were manufactured during November 2002 or a later date are subject to the normal terms and conditions of warranty.
