Fuel Injection Lines

Usage:

Remove & Install Fuel Injection Lines

FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Product Guide", NENG2500, for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Disconnect front fuel injection lines (1) and rear fuel injection lines (2) from the fuel injection pump and the cylinder head assembly.

2. Remove fuel injection lines (1) and (2). Put caps and plugs on all fuel line connections to keep foreign material out of the fuel system.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the fuel injection lines.

3. Remove the caps and plugs from the fuel injection line connections.

4. Install front fuel injection lines (1) on the fuel injection pump and cylinder head assembly.

5. Install rear fuel injection lines (2) on the fuel injection pump and the cylinder head assembly.

6. Tighten the fuel injection line nuts to a torque of 40 ± 7 N.m (30 ± 5 lb ft)with Tool (A).
