Shutoff Groups

Usage:

Air Shutoff Group And Solenoid

NOTE: Put a small amount of clean engine oil or glycerine on the lip of seal (4) and in the bores of the O-ring seals at assembly.

(1) Distance bearing is installed below pipe surface ... 0.25 ± 0.25 mm (.010 ± .010 in)

(2) Diameter of shaft ... 15.80 ± 0.03 mm (.622 ± .001 in)

Bore in bearings ... 15.88 mm (.625 in)

Bore in pipe for bearings ... 18.263 ± 0.013 mm (.7190 ± .0005 in)

(3) Valve assembly shown in the "run" (open) position.

When the valve is closed a 0.08 mm (.003 in) feeler gauge must not fit between the valve and the bore in the pipe at any point.

(4) Seal. Install the seal with the tip of the seal toward the outside as shown.

(5) Diameter of shaft ... 9.60 ± 0.03 mm (.378 ± .001 in)

Bore in the bearing ... 9.80 ± 0.03 mm (.386 ± .001 in)

NOTE: Adjust shaft as needed to change spring tension until hold-in current consumption (draw) is less than 2 amps at shutdown.

(6) 108-2858 Torsion Spring:

Free length ... 54.5 ± 0.5 mm (2.15 ± .02 in)

Outside diameter ... 30.36 ± 0.5 mm (1.195 ± .020 in)

(7) 3N7848 Spring:

Length under test force ... 22.86 ± 0.5 mm (.90 ± .02 in)

Test force ... 4 N (1 lb)

Free length after test ... 35.6 ± 0.5 mm (1.40 ± .02 in)

Outside diameter ... 18.8 ± 0.5 mm (.74 ± .02 in)

(8) Bracket assembly. Bracket assembly must be adjusted so valve assembly (3) is parallel to pipe bore within 2 degrees.

(9) 4N3890 Solenoid:

Voltage rating ... 24 or 32V

Current consumption (draw):

Pull-in windings ... 39.1A at 38.4V

Hold-in windings ... .58A at 38.4V

Plunger travel ... 11.7 ± 0.3 mm (.46 ± .01 in)

Distance from plunger face to flange face:

with solenoid energized* ... 9.6 ± 0.5 mm (.38 ± .02 in)

with plunger extended ... 21.28 ± 0.13 mm (.838 ± .005 in)


*The hold-in current consumption (draw) on engine must take less than 2 amps at shutdown.

(10) Diode assembly. Diode assembly required to suppress the back EMF voltage spike generated when the solenoid is turned off.

Electric Shutoff Groups

1W1223, 2W6665

Coil resistance at 25°C (77°F) ... 3.33 to 4.07 ohms

(1) Distance (reference) between shaft and plate*:

1W1223 Shutoff Group ... 22.68 mm (.893 in)

2W6665 Shutoff Group ... 20.62 mm (.812 in)

(2) Distance of plunger travel [start with dimension of 11.3 mm (.44 in) at front edge of plate (opposite spring side) to mounting surface on solenoid] ... 15.0 to 16.8 mm (.59 to .66 in)

(3) Torque for shaft nut ... 24 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft)

(4) Torque for terminal nuts ... 1.6 ± 0.3 N·m (14 ± 3 lb in)


*On engine a test can show need for more adjustment. Hold-in test on engine must take less than 2 amps.

NOTE: The solenoid must be activated to shut off the engine. The maximum activated time is 2.5 minutes.
